I’ll start by saying that in no way am I an expert at handling grocery shopping on my own, let alone with my kids! I have had to learn the hard way about shopping hungry, shopping without a plan, shopping before 11PM at night, etc… Obviously, I’m not your most reliable source in the art of grocery shopping itself. BUT, I have had my fair share of grocery shopping trips with kiddos and I think I might have a few little tips up my sleeve for those of you just starting out.

Grocery Shopping with Kids

  1. Go early. It’s hard to get my kids out early in the morning, especially because Lettie’s such a late sleeper! When I can, though, going grocery shopping in the morning is always easier. It’s practically empty, parking is always close, and my kids are generally happier in the morning after their beauty rest.
  2. Bring your MiaMily. If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, I’ve posted about my favorite baby carrier here, but it deserves another mention. With 3 kids, your cart can only hold so much! Especially if you’re at Target and you’re getting big things like diapers. Taking the carseat leaves you literally zero space for your actual groceries unless you pile them on top of the baby… which I have done at one point. haha I prefer this baby carrier over others because it doesn’t hurt my back AT ALL when I’m wearing it for long periods of time. It’s been a life saver! You can find it at Target here.
  3. Take your bathroom breaks first. Every toddler I’ve ever known needs a bathroom break at least once while they’re grocery shopping. Am I right?! It’s so much easier to just get it out of the way right off the bat. Bathrooms tend to be at the front of the store, too, so you won’t have to travel all the way back in the middle of your shopping for the inevitable bathroom break.

Let’s just say I’m an expert at this now haha. And pretty much the MiaMily is a major lifesaver! I promise you will thank me later- you will LOVE it! Happy Wednesday! xx,
