3 Relaxation Tips for Moms

Breathe Deeply- It sounds so easy, but can it really be that easy? Yep! This is probably one of the most basic relaxation tips out there. Deep breathing can help you get over stress because it slows the heart rate and lowers your blood pressure. So next time your toddler throws throws a fit when they can’t have chocolate for breakfast (real scenario, here) just breathe in and out slowly a few times. It won’t fix the tantrum, but it might make you feel better about it!

Meditate- When I think of meditation I get a little intimidated. Meditation, though, is actually really simple. Just sit up straight, close your eyes, and focus your attention on repeating a positive phrase like “I feel at peace”. If your religious, you can also repeat a scripture or prayer. Think about letting the good in with each inhale and the bad out with each exhale. Even just a few minutes (like, even only 5 minutes!) of this a day can make a huge difference change the way your mind reacts to stress. Yoga is a perfect way to practice meditation if you’re into that, and there are plenty of guided yoga routines on YouTube to practice at home. If your kids are like mine, though, it may not be quite the meditative experience you were hoping for… haha

Take Time for Yourself- Of all the relaxation tips, this is my favorite one! haha I strongly believe that taking time to do things for yourself, by yourself, can help you get through all the stressful times mom’s go through. Mom’s spend their lives pouring their cup into all the kids and spouses and careers, and it just makes sense that in order to to all of that, you need to fill your cup back up every now and then. Go shopping, get a pedicure, In-N-Out, whatever floats your boat, but make sure you take care of yourself too!

Thanks for stopping by! xx
