Happy summer you guys!! Whether your kids are out of school yet or they’re starting to finish up, you’re probably thinking about how you’re going to keep them entertained this summer when they’re not at camp, a play date or when you’re on a trip… It’s the best time of year no matter where you live to make memories as a family so I put together a list of fun family summer activities to add to your schedule! I know it can be hard to come up with fun, different things that everyone will enjoy doing so there’s a family summer activity here for just about everyone!
Summer Activity Ideas for the Family
- Make an outdoor water park! Get an inflatable water slide like this one, and/or a splash pad, inflatable pool and some water balloons for the ultimate fun summer day. There’s nothing better than being outdoors in the summer and this will make for such a fun day and give you an at-home water park from the comfort of your backyard!
- Make homemade ice cream! There’s so many different kinds of at-home ice cream makers too that are super popular that you could get for at-home ice cream. The Ninja Creami went viral and for good reason, it makes so many different kinds of frozen treats that the kids can customize and help make!
- Grow fresh herbs and fruit/vegetables at home! You don’t need a full sized garden to plant fruits and veggies… You could get little potted plants and grow tomatoes, herbs, peppers, strawberries, etc! The kids will love to get to water them and it’s a fun day of setting up your mini garden.
- Create and complete a scavenger hunt. The best part about this is you could move it indoors on a rainy day, or keep it to your backyard, or even go on a hike/walk with the family and seek out everything on the list! Here’s a cute one on Etsy that you could get!
- Have an outdoor movie night! This is one of my favorite ideas ever. Everyone can enjoy this! You could get an at-home outdoor movie screen like this one, and we have, love and use this projector for our screen! Pop some popcorn, make pizza, get comfy outdoor cushions or bean bags like these and watch a movie together – SO fun!
- Have a family pizza night! Because who doesn’t love pizza?! Instead of ordering a pie, make your own at home – you could even get an outdoor pizza oven like this one that the whole family will enjoy year after year. It’s the perfect addition to your patio and something you’ll get tons of use out of!
- Chalk the entire driveway! How fun does that sound?! I think I’m going to do that with my kids – get a big, affordable container of chalk like this one and create a fun masterpiece with the kids. Don’t forget to take pics!
