Easter Traditions:

My family is a little crazy about our Easters, we don’t mess around. Our Easter traditions are many and usually messy, but perfect!

Egg Decorating

Our egg decorating night is probably one of the messiest nights of the year in the Springer house. My kids get a little wild when it comes to their arts and crafts, so we start off by lining the kitchen floor with newspaper (totally necessary) and stripping down to diapers and underwear (I’ve learned about those stains the hard way). After all that prep, we can just let them go be as creative and messy as they want! And they don’t disappoint! One of their classic moves is dropping their eggs into the dye from up high… it gets so messy. haha They just love it.

Intense Egg Hunts

Growing up, my parents would put on a huge easter egg hunt for all the extended family (adults as well as kids, obviously) and they would hide some serious prizes in those eggs. I think this is probably one of my favorite Easter traditions.  I remember there was one year where they hid money in the eggs and one of them had a jackpot. You guys would die, everyone was just running over each other to see who got the lucky easter egg! It got pretty intense. Our Easter egg hunts here are a little less dramatic! We get together with friends from the neighborhood and sometimes we’ll just do a little hunt for the kids in the back yard at home.

Hidden Baskets

The Easter bunny always hides our kids baskets, so after they wake up they run around in the morning trying to find theirs. I’ve been keeping up a tradition my mom started with her baskets. She would always fill them with a bunch of spring and summer essentials like swimsuits, sandals, shorts, sunglasses, etc… I’ve tried to do the same for our family, with a little added candy, of course. Not that my kids really need any more sugar to go with their Easter cinnamon rolls…

Our Easter traditions are some of my families favorite memories to look back on. May your Easters be filled with giggles, and cinnamon rolls, and bunny ears, and lots of messy egg decorating.
