Things to Do in Kauai

Casey and I went on the best Hawaii vacation ever this last week to Kauai. It was so hard to leave my kids for an entire week, but let me tell you, I’ve never slept so well in my life! Here are some of our favorite things to do in Kauai.Things to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow DressThings to Do in Kauai by San Francisco lifestyle blogger The Girl in The Yellow Dress

Things to do in Kauai – Hanakapiai Falls Trail

We went on a hike up Hanakapiai Falls and would totally recommend doing that. It was so beautiful. It wasn’t a super easy hike, so if you have kids it might not be the best option for them. It’s kind of muddy and there are a few rocks and lots of hills, but the falls were so majestic and the scenery was amazing. It was like walking through the jungle the whole time!

Things to do in Kauai – Eco Zip Line

Zip lining at Eco Zip Line was really fun. We did the 8 line excursion which was about 2 hours, and I was really glad we decided to spend that long. I felt totally safe the whole time, which I know is a concern with things like that.

Things to do in Kauai – Poipu Beach

There was tons of marine life on Poipu Beach and it was perfect for snorkeling. There was a lot a lot of parking, which can be an issue sometimes. It was beautiful and so fun to see the seals and fish, and I just can’t get over how clear the water was!

Things to do in Kauai – Catamaran

We tried to do a catamaran off the Napali coast but they were all booked up. Everyone recommended doing this, so we were kind of bummed. Apparently you need to make sure you book in advance if you want to go! I’ll remember that for next time.

Things to do in Kauai – The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa

I’ve saved the best for last! We stayed at a few amazing resorts, which totally made the vacation. We were at the Kauai Marriott Resort for Casey’s work for a few days when we first got there. It was really nice, and we loved it there, but the last few days on the island we were at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa.

We LOVED the Hyatt, it was so freakin amazing. If any of you guys find yourselves in Kauai, I would totally recommend the Hyatt. It’s definitely a little more expensive than some other options, but worth every penny. The pool was just gorgeous (I guess I should say “pools”… there were like 10 of them haha) I didn’t have kids with me, but they had an amazing kiddie pools for families. The grounds were amazing, the service was amazing, and the food was absolutely to die for. I’ll talk more about that in a second. The gym was awesome- there were all sorts of machines, unlike a lot of resorts that only have a few dumbbells and treadmills. The spa is so luxurious and so relaxing and the rooms were beautiful- I could go on all day! I felt so pampered the whole time we were there.

Things to do in Kauai – Food

The Grand Hyatt had a few restaurants that were amazing. I literally dream about the banana pancakes at their breakfast restaurant, the Ilima Terrace and the sushi at Stevensons is really good and fresh. I’m really picky about my seafood, and theirs was awesome. If you’re a seafood junkie like me, Keoki’s Paradise in Poipu also had some amazing seafood. Tidepools was another restaurant on the Hyatt property that was SO good if you are craving steak or seafood!

Things to do in Kauai – Dessert

One thing we made sure to do on our kid-free Hawaii vacation was eat out!  Casey and I definitely ate a lot of really good food but I have to talk about the dessert. We got some amazing Acai bowels, which were surprisingly hard to find. We found them at Anake’s Juice Bar, and I would go every day if I lived there. haha We also got some pretty good shaved ice at Fresh Shave and some amazing ice cream at Pinks Creamery. Can you tell I like dessert?!

It was absolutely one of the best vacations I’ve ever had, we for sure want to come back to Kauai! I’m so happy to be home with my littles but oh how I miss the beach.
