For those of you mammas out there with more than 3 kids, I don’t know how you do it! I feel like I’m running around like a crazy person all day long trying to answer all of their “Mom? Mom? Mom? MOM!” questions – you know what I’m talking about, the ones where they get louder and louder the longer you try to ignore them? And my third doesn’t even talk yet! And I feel like a wimp because honestly, my kids are so easy. But I’ve been wondering if they would benefit more from some one-on-one quality time with me. Maybe they’ll feel like they’re getting the individualized attention that I want to give them but rarely, and I mean rarely, find time to give them.

Seriously, guys, how do you make each child feel important?! Devote time to just one child?! I brainstormed some mommy daughter date ideas and looked up what some other mammas out there do and I’ll share them here, but I’d love to hear your mommy daughter date ideas too. Some of these are more on the simple side, some are more elaborate.

1. Movie date night. Watch a favorite movie with just one child ever now and then. Make it fun with treats, cuddle up in blankets, and of course, let them pick the entertainment.

2. Lay down with them at bed time. I know, we’re all so darn wiped at the end of the day that its hard to drag bed time out, but from what I’m learning, bed times are some of the best moments to cuddle and connect with your littles.

3. Mommy-daughter/ Daddy-daughter/ Mommy-son/ Daddy-son dates. Take them out of the house on a date! Just the two of you, and you could even just go take them on a walk over a bridge, to get fast food, to the dollar store, anything works. It can be cheap, they’ll feel so special.

4. Cook. Make a special treat of their choice with them. Grit your teeth and let them spill the sugar when they pour it into the batter. haha

5. Assign each child a “birthday month”. Each child gets a special day each month where you celebrate them. You could make it like a real birthday with balloons and treats, or you can let them choose the activity for the day.

6. Take a “picnic” with one child in the back yard or living room. This could be done for lunch with other kiddos are napping, or for dinner if your hubby is home to watch the other kids.

7. Have your child teach you something. Give them your undivided attention for even just moments at a time to show you what they’re proud of.

So me and my littlest went out on the town for a short mommy-daughter date. Even though she’s just 9 months old, I feel like she gets ignored soooo much more than the first two did when they were her age, so I wanted to get in a little one-on-one time with my baby girl.

I want to hear your mommy daughter date ideas on giving your kids individualized attention!

xx,
