This is the first of three looks I am doing on thrift & vintage outfits this week. I am so excited to share them all! Our first look is called our sporty look. We have our thrifted sporty jacket and tee with boyfriend and skinny jeans. You can wear it with heels, or it even looks great with your favorite flats. It’s perfect for  a casual date night, or even to the store. I love thirfting and finding vintage clothes. It can be so much fun, but there is a “science” to it. That’s why I asked my beautiful friend Annette to explain how she does it. She has killer style and has mastered the art of thrifting. She explains how to find some great and classic pieces below:

I have been thrifting and collecting vintage pieces since I was in 7th grade. It started on Halloween when I visited the thrift store looking for a costume. I realized it was an untapped source for great finds. I walked out that day with denim, purses, and belts. The collecting started hasn’t stopped since!

When buying a vintage or thrifted item, always look for these basics:
Color, Quality, Style, and Fitting.

Thrift stores and consignment stores are a great place to find vintage tank tops, jackets, pants, and skirts. I found my all-time coveted ADIDAS blue jacket at a thrift store in Seattle, Washington. (Oh yes, I thrift anytime I travel!) It’s snug, lightweight, and has surprisingly kept its color despite the tag that says made in 1989. The tank top underneath is a consignment find. The colors are fun and I mix it up with new purchases, just like we did with these  two outfits. If you are new to thrifting then I suggest starting small, like with a jacket or a shirt. You can mix those with your current outfits and go from there. And don’t be afraid to hit the little boys or men’s section. They always have great finds!

Stay tuned for more of our thrift and vintage outfits to come! Thanks so much for reading!!

Love,

LaTisha
